Design Plans for the Cayuga Waterfront Trail

When the award-winning Cayuga Waterfront Trail is complete it will follow the edge of the Cayuga Inlet for six miles.

The trail was planned to unfold in three phases:

Phase 1: the two-mile Cass Park Trail, opened in Fall 2002 and is already enjoyed by many joggers, walkers, strollers, and cyclists throughout the seasons. Visit it now.

Phase 2: from Inlet Island to the Ithaca Farmer's Market is currently having the right-of-way negotiated.

Phase 3: linking the Farmer's Market to Stewart Park, is being planned for 2009.

  • Design on the Trail

Our national Rail-Trail Design Recognition award in 2004 cited the trail's consistent and creative use of design in furnishings, signs, and trail places.
